Skills Assessment

Anatomy and Physiology Student

CCV uses a simple process to help you choose the best courses to start your college experience.

In this Section:

New Student Class Selection Process

  1. Start by attending a New Student Advising appointment. At this session, you will meet with an academic advisor to learn about the admissions process, skills assessments, and the services that will support your success.
  2. Contact your preferred CCV location to schedule and complete the free Accuplacer skills assessment to take a snapshot of your reading, writing, and math skills – and be sure to check out the assessment practice options below.
  3. Next, complete a quick course selection survey (PDF) about your attitudes, behaviors, and commitments.

Finally, you’ll use your assessment results to select the reading, writing and math classes most appropriate to your academic skills. Your advisor will help you with the decision, providing you with additional information, making recommendations, and answering any questions or concerns you might have.

New Student Advising appointments and Accuplacer assessment are offered, by appointment, at all CCV locations.

CCV recommends all applicants attending college for the first time complete the Accuplacer Skills Assessments. Scores are used to help you choose the right courses with one of our academic advisors. All applicants who want to take the Accuplacer assessments may do so by scheduling an appointment through their local CCV center.
