Finally, you’ll use your assessment results to select the reading, writing and math classes most appropriate to your academic skills. Your advisor will help you with the decision, providing you with additional information, making recommendations, and answering any questions or concerns you might have.
New Student Advising appointments and Accuplacer assessment are offered, by appointment, at all CCV locations.
CCV recommends all applicants attending college for the first time complete the Accuplacer Skills Assessments. Scores are used to help you choose the right courses with one of our academic advisors. All applicants who want to take the Accuplacer assessments may do so by scheduling an appointment through their local CCV center.
Most new students are required to complete the skills assessment. You may be able to waive the assessment if one of the following situations applies to you:
Intro to College and Careers (ICC) students: High school students who plan to only take ICC during their first semester do not need to take the skills assessment before signing up for the course. Instead, you will take the complete assessment during the course.
Practice is important! Use the free official Accuplacer Study App. (Note: Choose the “Next-Generation Practice Tests” for your test version. CCV typically administers the assessments listed below.) If you’d prefer not to use the study app, here are links to sample questions from each assessment from the Accuplacer website.
For out-of-state applicants or any CCV applicant unable to schedule an Accuplacer appointment during CCV’s normal business hours, remote Accuplacer assessments are available through Meazure Learning, an online proctoring service. To use this service, you must have a computer with a webcam and a reliable high-speed internet connection. The webcam will be used by a proctoring service to verify your identity (government issued photo ID required) and to monitor and record your testing session. You will also be required to install Measure Learning’s free Guardian internet browser on your computer (available for Windows OS and Mac OS). The fee for this service is $12 – $15, payable directly to Meazure Learning when you schedule your session. (There is no charge for Accuplacers taken at a CCV location.) If you’d like to take CCV’s Accuplacers through Meazure Learning, please complete this form.
