Civil Service Reforms and Governance Challenges in Nigeria

Civil service: The term civil service is often used as the machinery of government or institution of the state, and it is synonymous with bureaucracy or government in Britain and in most Commonwealth countries. In the British conception, which has in fact become universal, the term civil service is used in two major perspectives. First, it refers to a group of permanent officers appointed or recruited to assist the political officeholders in formulating and implementing government’s policies. These officials are referred to as civil servants who work in the civil service or public service.
